P139: Effect of Paeonia Lactiflora Root Extract on Epilepsy

چکیده مقاله:

Epilepsy is a complex neurological disorder that affects around 1%of the world’s population.it affects the neural cells of the CA1 and CA3 regions of the brain's hippocampus that causes behavioral disorders. The use of medicinal herbs for the treatment of epilepsy has long been common, but these effectors have been less successful. According to glutamate theory, the cause of epilepsy is the accumulation of glutamate produced from GABA metabolism in the extracellular domain and consequently the inability of the GLT-1 protein in the transfer of glutamate and as a result of impaired function of the nerve. During epileptic seizures, the amount of glutamate in the cell increases. The experiments show that the albiflorin in this extract can be enhanced by inhibiting serotonin and norepinephrine absorption. Purpose of this study is checking the effect of the root extract of Paeonia lactiflora on epilepsy. Albiflorin and pentagalloylglucose can increase the flow of calcium from the gap junction of astrocytes, producing some ATP to the extracellular space, and the activity of the neurons at the same time increases the attack. Long-term exposure to Paeoniflorin can also prevent cell proliferation by increasing the expression of the A20 gene. As a result, the plant can be effective in preventing or reducing the severity of attacks.

Antihyperglycemic effects of paeoniflorin and 8-debenzoylpaeoniflorin, glucosides from the root of Paeonia lactiflora.

Paeoniflorin and 8-debenzoylpaeoniflorin were isolated from the dried root of Paeonia lactiflora Pall. (Ranunculaceae). They produced a significant blood sugar lowering effect in streptozotocin-treated rats and had a maximum effect at 25 min after treatment. This hypoglycemic action was also observed in normoglycemic rats only at 1 mg/kg. The antihyperglycemic activity of 8-debenzoylpaeoniflori...

Evaluation of ITS2 for intraspecific identification of Paeonia lactiflora cultivars

Herbaceous peony (Paeonia lactiflora Pall.) is an important ornamental and medicinal plant. DNA barcodes can reveal species identity via the nucleotide diversity of short DNA segments. In this study, two main candidate DNA barcodes (ITS2 and psbA-trnH) were tested to identify twenty-one cutting cultivars of P. lactiflora and their wild species. The efficacy of the candidate DNA barcodes was ass...

Aqueous Extract of Paeonia lactiflora and Paeoniflorin as Aggregation Reducers Targeting Chaperones in Cell Models of Spinocerebellar Ataxia 3

Spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA) types 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, and 17 as well as Huntington's disease are a group of neurodegenerative disorders caused by expanded CAG repeats encoding a long polyglutamine (polyQ) tract in the respective proteins. Evidence has shown that the accumulation of intranuclear and cytoplasmic misfolded polyQ proteins leads to apoptosis and cell death. Thus suppression of aggregate...
